New PhD research student joins the Slope ALARMS team at Loughborough University

Daniela Codeglia has joined the Slope ALARMS team at Loughborough University in the School of Civil and Building Engineering to undertake a PhD in acoustic emission monitoring of rock slopes. Daniela completed a Bachelor’s degree (Geological Sciences) at the University of Trieste, and a Master’s degree at the University of Bologna (Applied Geology), and completed her theses on the Passo della Morte landslide complex.

Current PhD research student Alister Smith has completed his first year of study in acoustic emission monitoring of soil slopes using active waveguides. His project comprises both field monitoring and physical modelling elements and has the working title ‘Quantification of Landslide Velocity using Acoustic Emission Monitoring’.
