Slope ALARMS system trialed as an early warning system by the Austrian Railway

Slope ALARMS instrumentation is being installed in a slope that threatens rail infrastructure in Austria. Sensors will be used to provide an early warning as part of an integrated monitoring system called Sentinel for Alpine Railway Traffic (SART) in collaboration with German company INGLAS GmbH. Slope ALARMS was selected for inclusion as part of SART following a review of slope monitoring approaches world-wide. This project aims to develop monitoring strategies that can be used in the protection of rail infrastructure from a range of landslide hazards. More information will be available on the Case Studies page in due course.
